Not all Troopers who were Killed in Action aboard a Charlie Troop 1st squadron 9th Cavalry Regiment helicopter were assigned to Charlie Troop. As a Troop (A,B,C) would need men to man their helicopters, men from the other Troops would be sent on temporary duty to the units in need.
Private First Class (PFC) Richard D. Henrey of Solvang, Ca, was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (HHT) on July 28, 2967 but was temporarily attached to Charlie Troop. PFC Henrey was Killed in Action on September 26, 1967.
Richard was awarded a set of Crew Member Wings, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnamese Service and Campaign Medals.
