Well, the verdict is in on my eyes. I had a second surgery. The doctor was not quite satisfied with where I was. Actually, I wasn’t thrilled either. The second surgery so far has been a total success. I (as of now) have single vision again. I only need glasses to read. Altho, I do believe that ya’ll are beautiful people, I’d still rather see just one of you as I do now.

Since the last News Letter, Gordon and Susan Jones’ granddaughters (and out Little Sisters” have won another 1st Place in their Cheerleading activities. It looks they are on their way for a second straight National Championship.

Let me know what your children, grand children or Great grand children are doing so I can brag about it in the news letter. How about some news on something special that has happened to you or your spouse.

It seems as though Trooper Gene Smith is in need of some medical care. Gene will be going in for a total shoulder replacement and a rotator cuff repair. I am not sure when this will happen but I will let you know.

On the 12th of February, I was able to reconnect with a Charlie Trooper that I served with. It has been sometime since I had talked to John Drnek. John arrived in Charlie Troop in October of 1967. He was a Blue. John is not one for making reunions and that is fine. For me, I either want to see someone (Reunions) or at least talk to them. I just want to know all of our guys are doing good. John is doing good.

I received a comment on my Blog (www.patrickbieneman.com) from a Josephine Herring. She said her Dad (Michael) served in C Troop Dec 67-Sep 68. She would like to know if anyone remembers him. If you do remember him contact me and I will give you her email or you can go to my blog and get it. I do not remember him but I believe he was a Crew Chief or a door gunner.

In prior News Letters, I have stated the problems we are having at finding Hotels that can meet our needs in order to hold a reunion. We, the Charlie Troop+, are going to have to make a decision before long. We know that Branson, Mo, Pigeon Forge, Tn and Gettysburg, PA as of right now have large enough facilities to hold our reunions. Carol and I are finding it harder and harder to find more that can accommodate us. If it is left up to Carol and I, we will probably start rotating either between all of these or at east two of these.

For those of you who have not made hotel reservations, Please go ahead and make them. You can cancel for any reason 7 days prior and the hotel will work with you for any medical or personal reason after that.

For those of you who have made you hotel reservations but have not sent in your registration form and money, Please do so now. Once again, you can pre-date your check July 15. We will send out emails 1 week prior to cashing the check to make sure You want us to do so. Once the meals are paid for we cannot refund your money. You can not pay for your meals after the 15 July deadline.

I will be sending out letters pretty soon to those who will be partaking in our Wreaths ceremonies. It will take a lot of help from each of you to make the 29th of September go smoothly. We will be conducting two wreath laying ceremonies at New Vietnam Pilot/Crewmember Memorial at 10am to conclude by 10:30am. This will be a wreath from the Pilots/Crew Members and one from the Gold Star Families. We will have two guest speakers making short speeches as to what this Memorial means to them as long as time permits. If not, we will ask them to make the speeches during the Gold Star Ceremonies that evening. The Wreath will be laid at the Tomb of the Unknown at 11:15am. These times can not be altered. I will have to have my Four Troopers participating in the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown at the Tomb Guard Quarters NLT 10:45. We may have to leave the 1st ceremony a little early. Without everyone’s complete support we may end up missing one of these ceremonies completely. This means the buses must leave on time and everyone must listen to those in charge of these two very important ceremonies.

As all of you know, Carol’s Mom passed away last month. We just want to pass on to our “Cav Family” our “Thank you” for all of the cards, phone calls, emails and prayers.

God Bless,

***Just remember, the only times that are not flexible are those for the ceremonies. We may have to adjust other times so don’t try to hold my feet to the fire on times.
