In prior News Letters, I have stated the problems we are having at finding Hotels that can meet our needs in order to hold a reunion. We, the Charlie Troop+, are going to have to make a decision before long. We know that Branson, Mo, Pigeon Forge, Tn and Gettysburg, PA as of right now have large enough facilities to hold our reunions. Carol and I are finding it harder and harder to find more that can accommodate us. If it is left up to Carol and I, we will probably start rotating either between Pigeon Forge, TN and Branson, MO. We are still working with the Columbus, Georgia Chamber of Commerce to locate a hotel in the Columbus area.

For those of you who have not made hotel reservations, Please go ahead and make them. You can cancel for any reason 7 days prior and the hotel will work with you for any medical or personal reason after that.

For those of you who have made your hotel reservations but have not sent in your registration form and money, once again you can pre-date your check to July 15. We will send out emails 1 week prior to cashing the check to make sure You want us to do so. Once the meals are paid for we cannot refund your money. You can not pay for your meals after the 15 July deadline.

++ Depending on Total amount involved in Ceremonies, times for “Free day”, Dinner and Ceremonies may change. Ceremony time will be longer this year as we will be honoring those who went to Vietnam in 1969,1970 and 1971.

I will be sending out letters pretty soon to those who will be partaking in our Wreaths ceremonies. It will take a lot of help from each of you to make the 29th of September go smoothly. We will be conducting two wreath laying ceremonies at New Vietnam Pilot/Crewmember Memorial at 10am to conclude by 10:30am. This will be a wreath from the Pilots/Crew Members and one from the Gold Star Families. We will have two guest speakers making short speeches as to what this Memorial means to them as long as time permits. If not, we will ask them to make the speeches during the Gold Star Ceremonies that evening. The Wreath will be laid at the Tomb of the Unknown at 11:15am. These times can not be altered. I will have to have my Four Troopers participating in the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown at the Tomb Guard Quarters NLT 10:45. We may have to leave the 1st ceremony a little early. Without everyone’s complete support we may end up missing one of these ceremonies completely. This means the buses must leave on time and everyone must listen to those in charge of these two very important ceremonies.

I talked to Galen Rosher the other night. He is doing good and is home now. It will take a while to heal but the hip surgery went well. He is walking short distances with Ilah building up his strength,

I talked to Cecil Smith the other day. He was diagnosed with Live cancer. Gwynn said it was a Gall Bladder type cancer that moved to his liver but they can’t find any cancer in the Gall Bladder.

Carol talked to Anne Smith the other day. Gene came through his Reversed Shoulder surgery just fine. This is a painful surgery.

I talked to Billie Williams the other day. I got him to laugh quite a bit. He said his son was home from his last job in Afghanistan. His son has an interview with United Airlines and plans to be living in Houston with his family. Let us all say a prayer for Billie, Dorris.

Titch is at a Rehab Center close to his home. He says so far so good for his back surgery.

Larry Viig, an RTO, from 1967 is going in for shoulder surgery on April 4th. Say a pray for him and his doctors.

Some sad news. Larry G. Merrick, Red Platoon Crew Chief 67-68 passed away on March 28th, 2019. His funeral will be held at the Todd Memorial Chapel, 570 North Garey Ave, Pomona, CA 91767.

God Bless,

***Just remember, the only times that are not flexible are those for the ceremonies. We may have to adjust other times so don’t try to hold my feet to the fire on times.
