Frank and Glenda 
Frank was assigned to Charlie Troop on May 6, 1966 and was Killed in Action on June 27, 1966. Frank was a Door Gunner on an UH-1H helicopter. Frank was awarded the Combat Infantryman”s badge (CIB), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Crew Member Wings.

My dad was Frank Lee Gonderman’s half brother. His name is Donald Earl Gonderman, Sr . He lives in Ada, Oklahoma.

Dad said he only has one of Frank when he was a very young boy. Said he was a great brother, father and husband. Dad said Frank was stationed in Germany and had the chance to come home to the USA, chose to go to Vietnam instead. And was there only one month when the 2 helicopters collided. Dad was in the Air Force at that time. And we just returned to the USA from France when that happened with Uncle Frank. Do you have any pictures of Uncle Frank? Or know of any body that does? I would be willing to pay for copies of them for my dad. Dad really appreciated seeing the above picture.

Diana, I am sorry but I don’t have any photos of him. When he went to Vietnam he went in one inprocessing station for two or three days. From there he would have gone to An Khe. That is where all soldiers who were assigned to the 1st Cavalry went. He would have been there for about a week as he would have done more processing and received his assignment to Charlie Troop. As you can see, that would not have left him a lot of time to actually be in Charlie Troop before he died. I am sure that that is the reason no one has any pictures of him that I can find. Other men remember him but so far I have not found anyone who has a picture of him. I have not given up and If I do find any I will let you know.

William, My name is Janice and I am Frank’s daughter. I have pictures of him and lots of family members from Oklahoma. My pictures are from my grandparents collection. I had seen and add in a local newspaper about matching pictures to names on the wall and tried contacting the woman in charge to no avail. Let me know how to contact you in private.
