James was assigned to Charlie Troop on September 25, 1965 and was Killed in Action on November 16, 1965. James was killed at LZ XRAY. James was a Door Gunner on an UH-1B helicopter. James was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
