Louis was assigned to Charlie Troop but later transferred to Bravo Troop 1/9 Cav where he was Killed in Action on September 27, 1967. Once a Charlie trooper always a Charlie Trooper. Louis was an Infantry Platoon Leader. Louis was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB), the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
