Steve, I was in the same unit. I have put emails out on the C Troop site asking for pictures and all responses declared they fif not have any photos.

Tommy’s little brother is my uncle in law, I’m not sure how much their family has, but they didn’t even know the whole story until they read Snake Pilot by Randy Zahn.

Tommy was a friend from Walton HIgh School. We both had Corvairs and would drag race. Tommy was a great guy, popular, and always had a friendly smile for everyone.

Hi my buddy Michael Alan Johnson, who I served with in the 10th Mountain Division from 2000-2003, is buried in the same cemetery as Tommy L Whiddon. My buddy killed himself in 2015as years of fighting PTSD. I just recently visited his grave in Nov of 2020, and I found Tommy’s grave not far from Michael’s. He had a Horse statue in front, with faded 1st Cav emblem that has been weathered by the years past. I researched Tommy and found this message board. I can tell he was deeply cherished and loved by many. I never knew the man, as I was born in 1982, and served in the Army from 2000-2008. I read he was terrified he wouldn’t come home, and I felt the same in Iraq. His story really affected me deeply, and I have no words to describe my feeling inside when I think of Tommy. 50 years have passed since he was KIA. I hope he still has family that may read this. I am sorry for your loss.
