James was assigned to Charlie Troop on March 13, 1969 and was Killed in Action on January 4, 1970. James was an Observation (Scout) pilot. James was awarded the Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a set of Crew Member Wings.
