Robert “Bo” was assigned to Charlie Troop on January 19, 1967 and was killed in Action on August 9, 1967. Robert was a Pilot of a UH-1C helicopter. Robert was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a set of Army Aviator Wings.

I met Bo Thompson in early December, 1962, as both of us were signing in for Primary Flight School, Camp Wolters, Texas. We then were neighbors at Fort Rucker, and Bo was a favorite with all the children in the area. He had none of his own at the time (that i recall) but had plenty of time to “play” with our kids and the others too.
